"Lummis Day: The Festival of Northeast Los Angeles" will take place on Sunday, June 1.
The event will begin with an 11:00 am poetry reading and reception at Lummis Home -- 200 E. Ave 43 -- then shifts to Sycamore Grove Park -- 4900 N. Figueroa Street -- at 12:30 pm, where music, dance and puppet performances, art exhibitions and food service continue through 7:00 pm.
NOTE: Ave 43 is an exit, northbound and southbound, off the 110 Fwy (also known as the Arroyo Seco Parkway).

Ample Lummis Day parking has been made available through the efforts of Council Districts 1 and 14 for the Sunday event along with a free shuttle bus connecting several designated parking zones with the Festival's locations.
Marmion Way will be closed to through traffic and available for diagonal parking. Additional parking has been made available by the Southwest Museum in their hilltop lot and a large number of spaces are generally available along Figueroa Street.
For those parking at Marmion Way or taking the Metro Gold Line to the Lummis Day event (recommended!), a shuttle van will make rounds approximately every 20 minutes with stops at the following locations:
Southwest Musuem tunnel entrance (234 Museum Drive),
Marmion Way (corner of Museum Drive),
Lummis Home (entrance on Carlotta Street near corner of E. Avenue 43)
and opposite the bandshell at Sycamore Grove Park (4900 N. Figueroa Street). |
Shuttle service will begin at 10:15 am and will conclude after the final performance at approximately 7:00 pm.
