Help us plan, and then produce, Lummis Day 7

The Lummis Day organizing committee is seeking volunteers to work with us as we organize or event plan and then produce the actual event. We meet once a month, often at Ramona Hall, and gather as needed a little more often, especially as the date of our Festival grows closer.

We also will be engaged in several educational, cultural and fund raising activities in the weeks and months leading up to Lummis Day 7, many of which could also use additional community volunteer assistance.

You might be surprised at how many jobs are involved, and how few new people come forward each year. We want these newcomers, as they become our lifeblood, and the leadership for future Lummis Day Festivals.

The Lummis Day organizing committee is seeking volunteers to work with us as we organize or event plan and then produce the actual event. We meet once a month, often at Ramona Hall, and gather as needed a little more often, especially as the date of our Festival grows closer.

Here's the info on our most recent meeting:

When: Tuesday, November 8, 2011 - 7pm

Where: Ramona Hall - 4580 North Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90065


Here's a sample of just some of the committees / volunteer opportunities we've had in the past:

Budget and Funding - plan, discuss and approve of budget for 2012

Educational Workshop - we'll be holding our annual teacher's workshops again

Fund Raiser – develop and co-ordinate plans for in-advance Fund Raisers

Graphic Arts - develop souvenir Program Rate information - discuss advertising needs

Signage - develop a plan to direct attendees to venues, parking and shuttles

Activities for the children – co-ordinate events for kids and families

Power Output & Logistics - decide with fire marshal – for Stage 2

Security - developing a plan that addresses multiple parking areas as well as the two main venues

Talent – production will hold a meeting on Sunday, March 14 and report back on March 23.

Stage 1 - co-ordinate acts / technical needs and MC

Stage 2 - co-ordinate acts / technical needs and MC

Family Stage - co-ordinate acts / technical needs and MC

Band equipment – facility and movement of equipment during the festival

Food Service - vendors and permits

Lummis Home Venue - co-ordinate needs at the Lummis Home

Heritage Square Venue - co-ordinate needs at Heritage Square

Library Program  - planned venues at this time are Arroyo Seco Library and Eagle Rock Library

Transportation and Parking – a committee will have to take on this job

Volunteers - needed at two venues on the day of the event
