President: Edward Rivera

Edward Rivera is a founding member of the Lummis Day Foundation. A native of Los Angeles, he is active in Northeast LA community activities and he was the interim President of the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council, leading them through their certification process. He is a former producer at KABC-TV's 'Eye on L.A." and was a director at KCBS-TV's "2 on the Town." He also produced and directed "Earl Tornado's Danger Club" for Sportschannel LA and ESPN2. As a journalist, his work has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, the LA Weekly, The LA Reader, Pasadena Now and many other local publications, as well as national magazines. He currently serves as editorial director at Northeast Daily News, and community editor at Pasadena Now. His band, The Andersons, has appeared in several Lummis Day lineups. He lives in Pasadena, with his cat, Earl.


VP of Operations: Heinrich Keifer

Heinrich Keifer has lived in Highland Park since 1978.  In 1992 he joined the Highland Park Chamber of Commerce facilitating the annual Christmas Parade and serving as President in 1995.  In 2000 he worked to establish the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council serving as treasurer for three years and as President for two.  A plumber by trade, he is in constant demand by the American Red Cross and was called to service after Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy and currently in the fire zone in Arizona.  He uses his service experience to benefit the Lummis Day Community Foundation not only as treasurer but also creating logistical plans. As a co-producer of the Festival he oversees physical production and risk management as well as County Health and City permit requirements and all safety aspects of the festival. On Lummis Day it’s difficult to see him because he’s moving too fast.


VP Community Affairs: Rosamaria Marquez

Rosamaria Marquez brings 35 years of artistic experience and community activism to Highland Park through her Rock Rose Art Gallery.  Now in its 20th year, this venue serves artists, actors, musicians ages 2 to 92, hosting art exhibitions, concerts, play readings, drum circles, classes and special events. She has been an integral part of the LA arts community since moving here in 1971 both performing and producing.  She received the Ray of Hope Award in 1997 from Hispanas Organized for Political Equality.  She has produced two Northeast LA Holiday Parades and 14 of the 15 Lummis Day Festivals.  On Lummis Day she can be found at one stage or another making sure that things run smoothly.

Bert Atkinson is an award-winning documentary filmmaker specializing in social issue documentaries like “Grief in America” as well as a recipient of several Emmys for his work as camera man for ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”. Bert has a long-standing interest in Native American issues and has mentored a number of Native children through Futures for Children.  As a board member for Lummis Day, Bert has hung signs, put up tents, written grants and most importantly, shot and produced videos for Lummis Day Public Service Announcements, grant applications and archives. He is currently working on a film project about Charles Lummis.  On Lummis Day you will see him filming poets, musicians, dancers and puppeteers and interviewing festival goers.


Denis Quinonez, an El Sereno resident, became a board member 6 years ago while working with disadvantaged youth and completing an MBA at USC. Committed to working with individuals who want to achieve the “American Dream”, Denis developed The Infinity Group, a real estate, investment and financial services organization that services the greater Los Angeles area. Each year, The Infinity Group sponsors the Noisemaker Award.
